Going forward, every card listed in the shop will be shown using a real, high-resolution scan of the exact card you'll receive — not a reference image. What you see is what lands on your doorstep.
It takes us longer to scan and process every single card this way, but we think it's absolutely the right thing to do. It comes down to four things we care about: quality, convenience, transparency and trust. You should know exactly what you're getting before you buy, and we want shopping with Beyond to feel like a genuinely great experience from start to finish. This is just one step in that direction — more to come.
Every card now gets 10 images — front, back, and close-up corners (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right) on both sides — captured at a whopping 600 DPI so you can see every detail, right down to the surface.
What does 600 DPI actually mean for a trading card?
DPI — dots per inch — is a measure of scan resolution. At 600 DPI, a standard-size card (63mm x 88mm) is captured at roughly 1,500 x 2,100 pixels per image, or about 3 megapixels per shot. Multiply that by the 10 images we now take per card — front, back, and all four corners on both sides — and that's over 30 megapixels of detail on a single listing.
To put that in context, 600 DPI sits in the same range that archival and fine-art institutions use as their standard for digitising photographs and artwork. On a full-size painting, that resolution captures brushstrokes. On a card the size of your palm, it captures print texture, foil pattern, centering down to sub-millimetre precision, and any edge wear or surface marks — the exact things collectors check for before they buy.
Is it overkill for something the size of a trading card? Probably, for most people scrolling on a phone. But that's not really the point. We're not doing this because everyone needs to zoom in — we're doing it so that anyone who wants to can verify condition for themselves, without needing to take our word for it. That's what quality, transparency, and trust look like in practice: not just saying it, but building the shop so you never have to wonder.
